Today negotiations kicked off for the WFSE General Government (GG) contract. A snapshot of the members out supporting their team is a good illustration of one of the most diverse and talented workforces in the Pacific Northwest:

🦺Highway maintenance workers at the Spokane St WSDOT shed in Seattle.

🫶🏽DSHS employees in Everett who provide direct relief at community services offices and help people with disabilities overcome barriers and find work.

🏙️Folks at the SOLA office in Kitsap County, who help some of the most vulnerable Washingtonians with some of the most complex diagnoses live independent lives in our communities.

At a time when public services are being devalued, attacked and cut, we’re asking our state to live up to its values.

The GG contract contains the rights and protections of 40,000 frontline, caseload-carrying state workers who often work directly with the public.

If we’re serious about changing people’s lives, about protecting children and families, about delivering on the policies and programs laid out by our elected officials, we need to prioritize and invest in the people who DO the work with a fair contract.

Over a dozen other WFSE contracts will be kicking off their negotiations soon.
